Welcome to The Sport Of Fitness
The world was introduced to The Sport of Fitness by a fleet of helicopters, trains and semi trucks carrying container boxes bearing the Reebok CrossFit logo across a myriad of global landscapes. This dramatic display of marketing brilliance announced to the world that Reebok was putting its soul behind this Sport of Fitness. On the surface the 10 year, $150 million dollar investment in the world’s fastest growing fitness community, by one of the world’s most recognizable athletic lines, seems like a perfect match. However, the partnership is not without its doubters from outside, as well as within the CrossFit community. Further examination of the new partnership reveals nearly as many questions as answers.

If you’re anything like us, you attempt to find balance between your (somewhat cultish) journey toward macronutrient purity and your reaching of the athletic potential that our DNA will allow – enter the CrossFit Supplements Debate. The supplement “do we or do we not” discussion continues to rage onward in the CrossFit community and this post is not likely to put an end to that CrossFit supplements debate.
Take a look at the anti-supplement post (left of the fish oil supplement calculator) on Whole30 and then look at the related comments below. It illustrates a careful point I’d like to make. We idealize our training and our nutrition way too often. Some, outside of the community, would find it ludicrous that a nutritionist could bash supplements while promoting another supplement just centimeters away. When it comes to this issue, people tend to polarize. In the comments, an affiliate owner even mentions that his affiliate “doesn’t pimp supplements,” a potentiallyveiled shot at a neighboring affiliate whose clients have seen remarkable results with quality eating and supplementing.
With all of the nutritional influences around us, everything that we consume tends to be in violation of some Paleo seminar instructor’s or affiliate owner’s doctrine. The question that you have to ask yourself is, “Are my goals aligned with theirs?” If you are a 210 pound male, do you hang on to the words of a 125 pound woman? This is an important question! No matter who or how professional they are, personal preferences always influence academic and/or professional truths. True, my stance on nutrition and supplementation has slightly evolved but the modes of thinking are contiguous nonetheless. In a community that shares the same macrovision, Forging Elite Fitness is defined by an infinite number of microvisions. Why? Each affiliates’ goals are different. And each trainer within that affiliate’s goals are unique, just the same.
